Conclusion (*drumroll)

Tuesday 25 December 2012

CONCLUSION

In short, this social clinic project aim is to help the urban poor children living in major city to get the chance and right to proper healthcare and consultant. This is done with partnership with governmental bodies, private companies and not to forget the rich people that is the main source in terms of financial. We practice the system of one rich people paying for the price of two to equlibriate in terms of money. This in the end ensure that the poor does not have to pay for the service but still receive the same kind of treatment without any discrimination.

Since this concept is actually something totally new, it may be difficult at first, but perseverance will eventually pays off. Skills and experience can be build but to us it is the passion that drives us to establish this kind of enterprise.Still, advice  from government and companies are a guide for us to start and maintain a stable business.

9...Cost Structures

Friday 21 December 2012

Cost Structures

The cost structures building block defines the costs (the outflow of  cash) incurred to operate a business.A business cannot have a revenue stream alone but also has to use money to make the business grows. In our social clinic, these costs come from:

1.Salaries
-Money are used to pay for the salaries of the staff. No one works for free in this world even in a social project as that is the reality of the world today. It also helps maintain a positive mood among the staff because they are paid to get their job done at the best level.

2.Rental
-As a new business, we find it best that we first rent part of a building for the clinic.Hence, money are needed to pay for the space rent.

3.Bills
-Money has also be used to pay for the bills which include electricity, water, and wireless connection.

4.Physical resources
-In order to get the medical equipments or drugs or hygiene products, we cannot just rely on the partnership program. Some may also need to be bought at the company's own expenses.

In one glance, starting up this social clinic may seem like it needs a lot of cost, but it will eventually be outbalanced by the revenue streams from the healthcare services we have to offer.

Eighth... Key Partner

Monday 17 December 2012

Key Partner

The next block is the key partner block. It describes the network of suppliers and partners that help make the business work. They also play a major role in terms of resources whether physical or financially.

In our children healthcare social clinic project, we have proposed for partnership with:

1.Banks -to aid us in terms of start-up money to open the clinic

2.SG Pharma Pvt. Ltd. - to provide medicine and drugs for use by patients

3.Antamax Medical Sdn Bhd - to provide medical equipments and surgical utensil

4.Nippon paint -to sponsor in terms of interior design of the clinic and also furniture supply

Basically, we hope to gain interest of these major companies to join partnership with us through their corporate social responsibility (CSR) department plus the fact that we are a co-governmental project.

KEY ACTIVITY ...

Saturday 15 December 2012

Key activities are one of the crucial elements that are entrust could gather and attract more people to use our service . This is the assets that could bring us to be closer to our precious customer , and nevertheless , to show that we are truly worship this connection . The activities are :

  • open 24 hours per day
in all types of emergency cases , people do really want to have a fast and reachable service and treatment . But very least amount of clinic nowadays provide a long period of time in serving to their customer . So by having this point of servicing people 24hours per day , customer will reach to us as fast as they can .

  • provide snacks and refreshments
to children range from 6 years old and below , we provide them with a good and nutritious snacks and refreshments . Do we ever have a thought that how many clinics in this country , provide snacks to their customer ? Maybe it is quite rare for us to give such gift to the customer , but if  it could enable us to have a close relationship , we should pursue and further up this proposal .

Sixth... Key Resources

Friday 14 December 2012

Key Resources

The next building block is the key resources building block. This  building block describes the assets required to make a  business model works. The key resources can be divided into:

1.Physical
-Physical resources are the things that we need to open the clinic. This includes medical equipments, furniture, computers, electricity, wireless connection and even water supply.

2.Intellectual and Human
-Intellectual resources are the 'human brain' or wisdom needed   to operate the clinic. They are skilled staff that handles the clinic management to function optimumly. They can be subdivided further into operation management team, financial management team, healthcare provider team, law management team and supply management team.

3.Financial
-Under financial resources, it means where we got our money from for the clinic operation. This is basically from the investment by  the major companies and also partially from the revenue streams itself.

Fifth...Revenue Streams

Monday 10 December 2012

Revenue Streams

The next step in proposing a business plan, we have to identify the revenue streams. It is basically the source  of cash generated by the company.Every business no matter if it is a social enterprise, it still need to have ways of getting the money or else, bankruptcy is definite.

Thus, in our children healthcare project, our revenue streams is what we get from the rich that come to get healthcare services in our clinic. They pay for the consultation fee, medical check-up, treatment, and even ward rent.As the name social clinic suggests, the poor need not pay for the service,as the charges  are taken care of by the rich through the one-pay-for-two system (client).

Fourth... Customer Relationships

Friday 7 December 2012

Customer Relationships

The customer relationships building block describes the type of relationship a company establishes with the customer segments.

Even as a social clinic project, nonetheless, we still need to maintain a good relationship with the customer segments. We are going  to achieve this by:

1.Membership card program
-all customers will be  offered to become our clinic member. This card will be synchronised with our clinic database so that less waiting time is required every time customers seek our healthcare service.

2.Family day
-A special family day will be held annually for the customers and also our staff. This will help build a strong relationship between both sides thus creating a healthy and cheerful environment to work and also get treatment in.

3.Start-the-day exercise
-For patients staying in the ward who are fit enough, light and enjoyable exercises will be carried out everyday to build a positive mood in the kids' mind.As they say, whats's inside can heal you on the outside.

To conclude, by these various programs, it is our mission to maintain a strong and healthy relationship with the customer segments so that they will not turn their back on us and maybe even promote us to their colleagues thus expanding our business.

Next...Channel

Wednesday 5 December 2012

Channel

The third step in coming up with a business plan is to identify the channel. The channel building block describes how a company communicates with and reaches its customer segments to deliver its value prepositions.

In our project of opening a children healthcare social clinic, we have identified 2 major channels to approach our clients (the rich) and also our customers (the urban poor).

1.Clients
-Collaborate with the government specifically the Ministry of Health to get the rich to invest in our clinic.Proposals are to be made and delivered to respective companies and also potential clients either to invest or to get healthcare treatment at our clinic.Claiming as a co-project with the government may build trust among the clients on us.

2.Customers
-In order to identify potential poor customers to get services from us, we plan to collaborate with the government for data collection. This helps us to know the financial background of our customers and to provide better explanation to them on the true meaning of social clinic.

Extra channels are also to be used for promotion like the mass media, social networks like facebook and twitter, banners, and even newspaper advertisement.

The second block... VALUE PROPOSITIONS

Thursday 22 November 2012

After deciding on the customer whom we are targeting on this children healthcare social project, it is time to decide on value propositions. What is it actually?

VALUE PROPOSITIONS
Value propositions building block describes the bundle of product and services that create values for a specific customer segment. The questions we need to ask is What value do we deliver to the customer? It solves a customer problem or satisfies a customer need.In this sense, the VP is a bundle of benefits that a company offers customers.

In our children healthcare project, the services that we offer are basically healthcare advice and treatment for kids of the poor and rich. This is due to the fact that kids are often being infected by evil viruses possibly from the environment itself. Thus, here we are, specialising in the care of these kids below 18, as our main concern.

However, realising the fact that we are not alone, in the sense that there are business competitors around is with the same service, hence we have to come up with a unique value  or reason so that  customer turn to us alone.

So, here it is. First, we offer five class, international standard healthcare services compromising health check-ups, treatment for diseases ranging from small fever to minor surgeries and even wards for those who need further attention from doctors. In this case, we practised equality in which the rich and the poor are both treated with the same way, not wanting to build a class barrier between them.

Second, knowing kids and their natural self who are physically active even while being sick , we provided mini playground to attend to their needs. This is not to deprive them of their usual routine even while being at the hospital. This is we assure a totally new quality provided in healthcare as kids usually picture being in a hospital as boring as they are to lie down in bed all the time and never wander around.Hence, it is a strong value we have to offer to them due to the level of freedom we offer but at the same time, they are guided by the staffs.

Third, in servicing the kids, we must also never forget the parents. Hence, our third value is aiming to serve the parents while they are attending to their kids in the clinic. That is, we provide massage chairs for them to relax and loosen their muscles after  long day of work or taking care of their sick kids. The comfortable environment we provided are also a bonus as this will ensure their continuous support to us, and even a possible publicity channel to attract their friends and colleagues to join us.

To conclude, these values are like our identity in this social clinic field, especially important on marketing purpose.First class healthservice, mini playground and comfortable environment for parents alike (massage chairs) are the values that we have to offer.

BUSINESS MODEL CANVAS !

Wednesday 14 November 2012

Before we start to jot down our business plan on this building block , I think I shall start with the introduction of the nine blocks and column of this canvas .

First of all , there is a column which is the customer segment .

CUSTOMER SEGMENT ????

the customer segment building block defines the different groups of people or organizations an enterprise aims to reach and serve .Customers comprise the heart of any business model . Without all the profitable customers , no company or organizations can survive for long . In order to better satisfy customers , a company may group them into distinct segment with common needs , common behaviors , or other attributes . A business model can define one or several large or small customer segment . An organization must make a conscious decision about which segments to serve and which segments to ignore . Once this decision is made , a business model can be carefully designed around a strong understanding of specific customer needs .

There are different types of Customer Segments and here are some of the examples :

  • Mass Market
  • Niche Market
  • Segmented
  • Diversified
  • Multi- sided Market
so for our business model , we , whole-heartedly had decide our customer service , which is :

"OUR TARGET IS THE POOR PEOPLE , BUT AT THE SAME TIME , WE HAVE TO MAKE THE RICH PEOPLE ALSO BECOME INTERESTED TO ASK FOR OUR SERVICE "

THE GREEN BOOKLET !

for the past two weeks, we were given a booklet , a GREEN BOOKLET,which is the building block . And that was the moment when we realize that our leisure time had come to the end , and we have to deal with the real business, handling our social clinic .

So , here are some details on how we organize our building block , ......eventhough it was a bad impression from most of us , as the page is really huge with a wide spaces and blocks . But then , as the lecture guide us with some of the tips , it is easier then ! ;D

so first of all , there is a column of space that we have to fill it with our own business idea . So , enthusiastically , we jot down our most gracious and hilarious idea, which is . the social clinic .  We prioritize and zoom in to the deepest part of our social clinic , and thus we decide to focus on having a clinic which is specifically provide a health care towards children .

BUSINESS IDEA : to provide children healthcare

PROBLEM STATEMENT : how to provide children healthcare among poor children in urban area ?

our focus , like what we stated earlier , we want to provide a good care , a good concern towards children .

But why in urban area ?

when we have this idea murmuring , hopping around in our head , what we are thinking was , how we gonna get some aid , or some income , or some 'dana' for us to run this program . As all of us know , by helping others , means , we have to 'gadaikan' something , or lost some of our belonging , and for this case , in helping people in the healthcare ( clinic ) is reducing the charge while increasing the service level . but , can we guarantee the service can be maintained , the staffs can get their full payment , while the charge on the treatment is reduced , plus with the increasing of the patients ?

I dont really think it is a good idea if we continuously hanging on the business idea without any back-up plans .

So , that is how we came out with the idea on running our business in urban areas . As we see that we need the supports from the rich people , as we also provide our service to them . By having this kind of people , maybe we could earn some income and we also feel so glad if we could receive have sponsors from them . For the service , maybe we dont have to cut out the fees , as we really need the income to support the other people , but maybe we can propose it to reduce the treatment fees, lower than any other clinic and healthcare could ask . So , by having this business plan , i think it is not impossible for us to handle this project .

TQ .

What we have in mind for the social clinic project

Thursday 8 November 2012

As part of the given task of the entrepreneur course, we were assigned to come out with a business idea on a specific field that is a social clinic enterprise.

After major brainstorming, we decided to run a social clinic that provides children healthcare. Our clinic's primary target is to provide medical aid and advices to the poor (without any payment from them ). But at the same time, we also serve for the rich with certain applicable charges. In total, we practised a system where the rich pays for the poor to equilibrate financially.

To make it simple, our problem statement is How to provide children healthcare among poor children in urban area?

Hours with Bernard

Gosh , i dont even know how to start this -.-"

when  loads of people , here and there start rambling, bubbling, muttering and even talking in whispers about this APK stuff , I was like ...

"Apa kaitan medik dgn  APK sebenarnya? KEUSAHAWANAN???? EUUUUUUUUUUU..."
I mean seriously, what the #%^& is the relevance of  learning about entrepreneurship when you are like for sure going to end up as a DOCTOR.who need such minor skills anyway, duhhhhh

Anyway, that day, I got the news that a new SOMEONE is going to handle the APK class .So , whatever lahh , i just set my foot into the lecturehall ,...half awake ...and hope that the class will end earlier like what we have with Encik Thiru .
BUT !

What we get isn't the same as what we think it should be.Bernard is like this whole new type of person, caring about tiny particular details like TIME (he even arrived earlier than us, and ended the class at EXACTLY 7!!!) , full of spirit and energy and maybe some sense of humour.

So basically, the class turned out to be kinda relaxed but then again, the world isnt just about the good stuff. Hiding between the laughters and jokes, we were assigned with the REAL APK stuff:

1.Joining the facebook group UM APK 2.0  -------> DONE
2.Creating  a team "work in progress" blog    ------->HALFWAY THROUGH
3.Reading the business book "Business Model Generation" ------->  ???

APK is really not the "love-at-first-sight" kind of thing. Listening to Bernard is a bit intereting and intriguing but maybe the real passion is still not there. So, we just hope that being with him for the next 6 weeks will change our perception about this entrepreneurship thing. As they say, you may start with zero but end up being a hero?

 so , yea , DONE , BERNARD .
